Demian Bichir
El actor mexicano Demián Bichir fue postulado a mejor actor en los premios Oscar por su trabajo en la película “A Better Life”, mientras que Emmanuel Lubezki fue postulado en mejor fotografía por “A Better Life”, del director Chris Weitz, y El Árbol de la Vida.
Bichir entra en la nominación por su interpretación de un padre inmigrante en busca de una vida mejor para su hijo, como un astro del cine mudo cuya carrera se desploma con la era del sonido; Gary Oldman como el espía británico en Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy; George Clooney en “The Descendants” y Brad Pitt como el gerente general de los Atléticos de Oakland Billy Beane en Moneyball.
Bichir no es el único mexicano que ha sido nomidado a este premio, pues Anthony Quinn, obtuvo el galardón por partida doble como actor de reparto primero por Viva Zapata! (1952) y posteriormente por Lust for Life (1956) y fue nominado en dos ocasiones más como actor protagonista por Wild is the Wind (1957) y Zorba the Greek (1964).
Demián Bichir se expresó “abrumado” por su nominación al Oscar al mejor actor y le dedicó el reconocimiento a los “once millones de seres humanos que hacen que nuestras vidas sean más fáciles y mejores en los Estados Unidos”, en referencia a los inmigrantes que están en el país ilegalmente.
“Me siento abrumado al ver mi nombre entre los de esos increíbles actores. Esto nunca hubiese ocurrido si (el director) Chris Weitz no hubiese estado a la cabeza de este filme”, expresó Bichir en un comunicado.
“Él es mi hermano y le agradezco profundamente. Espero que más y más gente se meta a iTunes y Netflix a ver nuestra película. Ese sería el máximo premio que podemos obtener”, añadió.
